Practising What We Preach: mission: net zero achieves Planet Mark Certification for the third consecutive year

At mission: net zero, we don’t just advise our clients on environmental, social and
governance (ESG) best practices — we live by them. We’re proud to announce that we have
once again achieved Planet Mark certification, marking our third consecutive year of verified carbon footprint measurement and reduction commitment.

Our 2024–2025 results

As a service-based sustainability consultancy for the hospitality sector, with no owned
buildings or vehicles, we do not produce any direct emissions (Scope 1), nor do we
purchase electricity or heat for our operations (Scope 2). 100% of our company emissions
fall into Scope 3, such as homeworking, employee commuting and business travel. For this
reporting year (2024–2025), we measured a total footprint of 9.7 tCO₂e.

“At mission: net zero, we believe credibility comes from action, not just words. Measuring
and openly reporting our own emissions is fundamental to leading by example and inspiring our clients to do the same.”
— Simon Catterick, CEO, mission: net zero

Supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Planet Mark’s approach also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs), a set of 17 interrelated global goals addressing issues such as poverty, hunger,
health, education, climate change, gender equality, water and sanitation. By measuring and
reducing our own carbon footprint through Planet Mark, we contribute directly and
measurably to up to 8 SDGs, covering 15 specific targets. This alignment is crucial in helping us deliver real, tangible impact beyond our own operations.

Giving back through the Eden Project

As part of our certification, mission: net zero has also contributed to the Eden Project,
supporting their important work connecting people with the natural world and inspiring
environmental stewardship. This contribution forms part of Planet Mark’s commitment to
broader community and ecological projects, helping to amplify our collective impact.

Who are Planet Mark?

Planet Mark is a leading sustainability certification that supports organisations to measure
and reduce their carbon emissions. Their measurement methodology is fully aligned with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, and all data is rigorously reviewed against evidence

This certification for mission: net zero is not only a milestone but a reminder of our
responsibility to continually improve, expand our measurement boundaries and support
global climate goals.

As ESG consultants, we believe in practising what we preach. We remain dedicated to
helping our clients achieve their sustainability objectives while upholding the highest
