Let’s update you on a busy few months
Monday 6th November: Update from Simon Catterick, Founder & CEO
It doesn’t seem like several months since we sent our last newsletter out – there’s a great deal to share with you. One of our special milestones this summer was mission : net zero’s 1st business anniversary which the whole team spent together in Bath. Here we are pictured (below) at the glorious Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa. If you’ve got time, take a look at our blog which summarises a jam-packed 24hrs with our clients in the city.
We’ve recently introduced David Edgar into the team as Sustainability Advisor in relation to Building & Technical Services (pictured 4th from the left). David’s path intersected with us during a shared journey to achieve Green Tourism accreditation during his previous post at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bath. And before a career in hospitality, David dedicated thirteen rewarding years sailing the Earth’s oceans as a Yacht Captain!
David now offers advisory support to our clients in the following areas:
- Sustainable energy, water and waste solutions throughout a building’s lifecycle
- Mapping carbon footprints and emission reduction targets.
- Providing Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) and BREEAM sustainability methodology services for the built environment to hospitality industry clients as well as in the areas of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), build to rent (BTR), co-working and other real estate sectors.
If you’re interested in how we can support your Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) journey please do drop me or the team an email (hello@mission-netzero.co.uk)
Best wishes,
Simon (simon.catterick@mission-netzero.co.uk)

On the 15th – 16th October, mission : net zero joined the ESG Hub at the Independent Hotel Show at Olympia London. Wherever a hotel is at on its ESG or Sustainability journey, this year’s ESG Hub was designed to inform, inspire and help everyone move from good intent to tangible action.
The central theme of the Hub was the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and each area or activity was aligned with a specific goal. This year, we covered:
- Responsible Consumption and Production (12); Industries, Innovation and Infrastructure (9), Climate Action (13), Life On Land (15) and Life Below Water (14)
We were invited to bring our expertise to the ESG Hub alongside specialists including Sleeping Lion, Urban Planters and Knights Beekeeping to share insights and knowledge with delegates on how they can improve their hotels’ ESG or Sustainability journey.
Our Senior Sustainability Advisor, Louise also talked about eco-certification on the ESG panel alongside moderator, Sarah Duncan, Green Key and Planet Mark.
