After months of dedicated work, we are proud to announce our hotel client Hampton by Hilton Bath City has been certified with Green Key for their sustainable practices.
The increasing visibility of eco-labels within the tourism and hospitality sector is a wonderful tool our clients are using to engage with current and future guests. It showcases their commitment to creating a more sustainable hotel to help protect our planet and achieving Green Key certification is testament to the teams unwavering persistence and hardwork.
Angela Humble, General Manager of Hampton by Hilton Bath City comments: “Opening the hotel has been amazing, especially having the reassurance that we are doing the right thing with our building achieving BREEAM accreditation, supported by use of solar panels, blue stormwater control roof and green sedum roof supporting biodiversity.”
The Green Key award is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. The criteria are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries to work in global partnership for peace and prosperity for people, and the planet, now and into the future. It’s deemed a prestigious accreditation; Huffington Post highlighted it as one of the three most trusted environmental certifications to look at when booking hotels and activities that directly support local community and the environmental.

Angela continues, “It’s been fantastic to receive our Green Key accreditation, having been assessed against 130 criteria and 13 categories. For our guests, this shows that we are committed to reduce the environmental impact of their stay by deploying initiatives for the long term.”
The strict criteria which underpins the Green Key audit is set by the Foundation for Environmental Education and Senior Sustainability Adviser, Louise Carr-Merino of mission : net zero supported the hotel green team through an encompassing ESG programme. Louise comments:
“It’s wonderful to see another dedicated hotel team working towards making operations more sustainable and having their efforts recognised by achieving Green Key. This award verifies their commitment to reducing energy, water, waste and carbon footprint and puts the hotel on a global map of over 4400 likeminded establishments around the world who proudly display the Green Key plaque at their doors.”
It’s fantastic to see this bustling city centre hotel ‘thinking green’ and working together as a team to make the hotel more sustainable and reducing their carbon footprint with a number of initiatives including:
- Support for local colleges via work placements and music student performances at the hotel
- Switching to eco-friendly cleaning chemicals for housekeeping
- Solar panels on the roof
- Sedum green roof to support biodiversity
We congratulate Angela, Ruel and the Hampton by Hilton Bath City green team for their commitment to sustainability and look forward to supporting their future green efforts.
