Building Certification for Hospitality & Real Estate

Building certifications such as BREEAM, LEED, EPC and other industry standards play a crucial role in the hospitality and real estate sectors by ensuring properties meet rigorous environmental, safety, efficiency, and quality benchmarks.

These certifications not only enhance property value and operational efficiency but also strengthen sustainability initiatives—an essential factor in achieving net zero goals. By demonstrating a commitment to responsible building practices, certified properties gain a competitive advantage, attract eco-conscious guests and investors, and contribute to long-term cost savings through improved energy and resource management.

 What certifications do we cover?

built environment certification for the real estate and hospitality sector

We partner with hotel investors, owners, and operators to achieve internationally recognised certifications that mitigate risk and enhance asset value.

  • BREEAM: an internationally recognised certification and world-leading sustainability assessment method for built environment and infrastructure. (learn more)
  • CRREM: stands for Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor, a tool that helps the real estate industry assess and manage the financial risks associated with poor energy efficiency and climate change impacts on buildings, aligning with the Paris Agreement goals. (learn more)
  • EPC: Non-domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), also known as Commercial EPCs, are required for commercial buildings when they are sold, let, or constructed, and they rate the building’s energy performance on a scale from A to G, with A being the most energy-efficient (search the UK register here)
  • LEED: (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a globally recognised green building certification program developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) that provides a framework for designing, constructing, and operating high-performance, sustainable buildings.

Investors with certified sustainable properties are better equipped to navigate market shifts and meet stakeholder expectation.

Importance of building certification

Building certifications provide assurance that properties adhere to high environmental, efficiency, and safety standards, benefiting developers, investors, operators, guests, and regulators alike. These certifications support sustainable development, enhance asset value, and demonstrate a commitment to responsible operations, making them a key factor in future-proofing hospitality and real estate businesses.

For Investors & Financial Institutions

mission : net zero helps investors address the risks of climate change and poor energy performance by conducting site-based Net Zero Carbon (NZC) audits. These audits identify opportunities to improve buildings and avoid “stranded assets”—properties that fail to meet future energy standards and may become economically obsolete.

For Developers & Property Owners

Energy-efficient buildings help reduce operational costs through lower energy and water consumption, leading to significant cost savings. Building certifications provide a competitive advantage by differentiating properties in a crowded market, making them more appealing to eco-conscious consumers and investors.

For Hotel Operators and Management

Building certifications enhance operational efficiency by ensuring efficient resource utilization through programs like LEED and Green Key. A sustainable and certified hotel attracts environmentally conscious travellers leading to improved guest satisfaction through enhanced indoor air quality, lighting, and overall comfort.
