We’re delighted to share that our hotel client The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa in Bath have enhanced their sustainability credentials having achieved Platinum Greengage ECOsmart Award.
The luxury 45-bedroom boutique hotel is the first hotel in the South West to receive Greengage’s highest grading of ECOsmart certification for the hotel and meeting venue industry, which recognises an ‘outstanding approach with the highest possible standard of environmental sustainability applied’.
Greengage uses guidelines set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals framework, and the international ISO14001 environmental management standard. ECOsmart accreditation is awarded to hotels and meeting venues demonstrating an eco-friendly and sustainable approach which is often spearheaded by a dedicated Green Team.

Everything from sustainable food & beverage management, energy and water conservation to corporate and social responsibility was audited. The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa was praised for its comprehensive list of green initiatives implemented across their rooms, consumables and facilities management. All chemical cleaning products are replaced with eco-friendly alternatives, guest and public bathroom amenities are free from parabens and they have a dedicated in-person meeting space with the ability to stream online for delegates not able to travel to site.
Hotel guests are offered a Chefs Choice menu, created by Head Chef Martin Blake who utilises seasonal herbs from the hotel’s acre of gardens which have been noted for its biodiversity initiatives.
We first started working with The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa in 2022 have a proven track record supporting hotel teams successfully implement strategic sustainability programmes that focuses on creating positive impact on team members, local community and the environment.

With consumers across the UK making environmentally conscious purchasing decisions, the Greengage certification provides an additional layer of reassurance that the hotel has been comprehensively and independently assessed and operates in a sustainable way.
The Green Team, led by Emilian Stanciu, is responsible for implementing a sustainability roadmap that focuses on protecting the environment and giving back to local communities. External sustainability consultancy mission : net zero have supported Green Team colleagues to build and develop a robust ESG roadmap while preparing the hotel for audit.
