Successful green summer for mission : net zero

Having enjoyed a blissful 24 hours in Bath earlier this summer to celebrate our one year anniversary (you can read more on that here), we thought we’d highlight some of the sustainability milestones achieved by our hotels this month.

It’s been a busy month for our hotel green teams as 5 properties have applied for accreditation with Green Key and have been through on-site audits to complete the process. We’re delighted to announce that all 5 hotels have been successfully awarded this prestigious Eco-Label with international recognition. Each of these hotels are managed by real estate experts, Madison Cairn.

Courtyard by Marriott Oxford City Centre

Staybridge Suites Brighton

Holiday Inn Sunderland

The accreditation is testament to the hard work and dedication of the hotel green teams over the past few months, they’ve been busy implementing robust measures to improve their ESG performance. Of course, the hard word doesn’t stop there! We look forward to providing regular advice and guidance on how the hotels can continue to monitor and reduce the consumption of resources, and to offering assistance to help motivate staff as well as guests to act more responsibly for our environment.

“At mission : net zero we relish the opportunity to work with hotel teams and guide them on their green journey. In working with the properties managed by hotel experts, Madison Cairn, each have implemented a “green team,” dedicated to making operations more sustainable and working towards accreditation with Green Key. We are delighted that these five hotels have now earned this prestigious international eco certification, demonstrating their commitment to monitor and reduce energy & water consumption, reduce waste, and engage with their local community while ensuring team wellbeing. Through making environmental management, sustainability, and social impact initiatives an integral part of their business decisions, they will continue to prosper with consideration for People, Places, and our Planet. We look forward to continuing to support them with their green journey as they move to become even more environmentally and socially responsible and further reduce their carbon footprint in the years ahead.”

What is Green Key?

The Green Key certificate is a leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. This prestigious certificate represents a commitment by businesses that their tourism establishments adhere to the strict criteria stipulated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). A Green Key stands for an establishment’s promise to its guests that by opting to stay with such an establishment, they are helping to make a difference on an environmental and sustainability level. The high environmental standards expected of these establishments are maintained through rigorous documentation and frequent audits.
